Children and sleep!
Oh how I wish my baby would sleep, even just for a few hours.
How often do you say or think this?
My 4 year old thankfully is a great sleeper, my 8 month on the other hand is not. We’ve tried everything we can think of to get our little pudding to sleep for a decent number of hours. Routine, lavender, music, dummies etc. The only thing that works it co-sleeping which we don’t really want to do but sometimes its the only way. But even then, I don’t sleep as he’s usually asleep on me and I fidget to get to sleep. At bedtime he goes to sleep great but wakes numerous times through the night.
Every so often he will tease us by sleeping through, just for one night. Then its back to the usual. Many nights I’ve felt like such a let down and a bad mother as I can only say (and sometimes cry) ‘I can’t do this’. It all seems so much worse in the middle of the night. It can be quite a lonely place, pacing around with a crying baby, finally they settle and you gently place them in their cot and BANG they’re awake again. Off we go again.
It nice to know I’m not the only one having rubbish nights, night after night after night. TalkingMums would love to hear about your rubbish nights and if there is anything you’ve discovered to help.
Its hard being a parent, lets support each other through this incredible journey.
